MASHPEE – Two boats were destroyed by a fire in Mashpee shortly after 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The fire broke out at a dock behind 49 Riverside Road. A section of dock caught fire as well. One of the boats reportedly broke loose and drifted a short distance away into Hamblin Pond. Mashpee firefighters along with mutual aid responded to the scene along with the Coast Guard, Mashpee Harbormaster and a commercial salvage service. Booms were deployed to contain a small fuel leak. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
