Two face charges after u-turn, chase in Wareham

WAREHAMFrom Wareham Police: On Monday, February 18, at 10:00 p.m., Juvenile Detective Karl Baptiste observed a vehicle go through a red traffic light on Cranberry Highway at Depot Street. Detective Baptiste attempted to stop the car, however they accelerated and the vehicle made an abrupt U-turn by the Jack Conway office and drove to the Union Pond Apartments. Once in the apartments the vehicle sped up into the parking lot before stopping abruptly with two individuals running from the car. Officer Eric Machado and Detective Dean Decas arrived and quickly apprehended one of the suspects. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office was contacted for a K-9 team and within two minutes, Deputy Sheriffs were in the area to assist. Shortly after their arrival Deputy Sheriff Alex Johnson and K-9 “Suni” located the second suspect hiding under a parked car. Arrested in the incident were the following.

• David Savaria, 35, of Mashpee, was charged with disorderly conduct and had two active warrants for his arrest.

• Shainah Lopes, 36, of East Wareham, is charged with, failure to stop for police, operating after suspension of driver’s license, and fail to stop at a traffic signal.
