Two face drug charges after traffic stop in Wellfleet

WELLFLEET – Wellfleet Police report that on Sunday at approximately 7:15 PM, Ofc. Murphy was parked along Route 6 monitoring traffic. While monitoring traffic, he observed a vehicle pass by on Route 6 that he recognized. This vehicle was known to him as the owner had a revoked MA license and an active arrest warrant from the Falmouth District Court. The girlfriend of the owner is also known to the officer to have a suspended MA license and was recognized as she was passing by, operating the vehicle.

The vehicle was stopped on Route 6 by Old Wharf Road. The 2 occupants were confirmed and the officers conducted an investigation. During the investigation, the officers located a large quantity of prescription drugs and determined that the operator was driving under the influence of drugs. As a result of the investigation the following people were arrested:

Jessica Plotczyk, 29, of Wellfleet was charged with
Operating with a suspended license
Operating under the influence of drugs
Possession of Class C
Possession of Class E

Shaun Phaneuf, 44, of Wellfleet was charged with
Warrant Arrest
Possession of Class B, subsequent offense
Possession of Class C, subsequent offense
Possession of Class E

During the motor vehicle stop, Officers became concerned about the subject’s health. It was believed that they consumed a large quantity of pills as they were being stopped. Wellfleet and Orleans ambulances were requested to the scene for an evaluation. Both subjects were transported from the motor vehicle stop by the ambulances in the custody of Wellfleet police officers to Cape Cod Hospital.
