Two face drug charges after joint investigation

– During the months of March and April 2018, Yarmouth and Barnstable Police detectives initiated a joint drug investigation regarding 27 year old Jimmy Lee Perry of Hyannis. On March 27th Yarmouth and Barnstable Police detectives, executed a search warrant at 125 Lewis St. in Hyannis and recovered more than 19 grams of Fentanyl from Perry’s residence. Perry was arrested and charged with Trafficking Fentanyl. After being released from jail on bail, Barnstable Detectives continued to investigate Jimmy Lee Perry and another search warrant was executed at the 125 Lewis St. Hyannis address on April 18th. During that search, Barnstable Detectives located three handguns and Jimmy Lee Perry and his roommate Michael Randall were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of the guns.

Following the Perry/Randall investigation, Barnstable detectives began to receive information that Jimmy Lee’s 26 year old younger brother Robert ‘Bookie’ Perry had taken over his older brother’s narcotics distribution business while Jimmy Lee was being held without bail for the two pending drug and gun cases.

After a two week investigation, Barnstable Detectives executed a search warrant at Robert ‘Bookie’ Perry’s home on Ridgewood Ave. Hyannis. Upon execution of the search warrant, Bookie’s girlfriend Tayla Degrace assaulted a detective as he was placing her into custody. After a search of the premises, detectives located a small amount of heroin, digital scales, cutting agents, packaging materials, and writings detailing their distribution of the deadly drug.

Barnstable Detectives continued an exhaustive search of the area in and around Perry’s residence and located 2 handguns and ammunition hidden in a container in the vacant lot next to his home. The guns and ammunition will be sent to the state lab for further investigation, including DNA analysis.

Robert Perry was charged with Possession of a Class A Substance, and Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substance Laws. His bail was set at $1500, which he posted shortly after his arrest and he is due to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Monday May 7th.

Perry’s girlfriend, Tayla Degrace was also charged with Possession of a Class A Substance and Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substance Laws as well as Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Shoe). Her bail was set at $750, which she posted, and she is also scheduled to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Monday.
