WAREHAM – Wareham Police report that on Monday at about 5 PM, they responded to the area of Lakeside Trailer Park for a report of a male operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Upon the arrival of Sgt. Peter Flannery he observed the vehicle in question with three children in the car. The vehicle then pulled into the lot of trailer #9 and a female began quickly removing the children from the car. A male later identified as James Minta, 46, of Onset was exiting the driver’s seat.
Minta failed sobriety tests given by Ofc. Michael Phinney and was placed under arrest. He was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, child endangerment while OUI (3 counts), and operating after license suspended. He was transported to Wareham Police Headquarters and held overnight pending arraignment in Wareham District Court.
The children in the vehicle were uninjured and the Department of Children and Families was notified of the incident.

Later Monday about 7:40 PM, Wareham Police responded to yet another report of an intoxicated driver,, this time in the area of Barker Road. The caller reported a vehicle did damage to a property on Barker Road and then pulled into a nearby driveway. Upon arrival of officers, a female was found leaning against a truck with damage to it. When Ofc. Michael Phinney approached the woman, she said she had been drinking and crashed into a tree. Officers noted branches sticking out of the tailgate of the truck. After being administered field sobriety tests, Raymie Jean Farrell, 44. of East Wareham was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, and operating negligently to endanger. She was transported to police headquarters and processed pending arraignment in Wareham District Court.
