FALMOUTH – Falmouth Police responded to a report of a stolen car on Avalon Drive Thursday morning at 3:03 AM. The 33-year-old owner attempted to stop the men and sustained a minor injury in the process. The 2000 Jeep Cherokee was located on Shorewood Drive a short distance away from the victims’ home. A description of both male participants inside the Jeep were broadcast over the police radio. A Barnstable County Sheriff Canine Officer assisting with the search encountered two males in the area that fit the description and they were detained. The owner of the stolen car positively identified the men and they were both placed under arrest. Amhad Faiky, 18, who police say was driving the stolen car, was charged with breaking and entering into a vehicle during the night to commit a felony, larceny of a motor vehicle, and assault with a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle). Richard Gilbar, 50, was charged with breaking and entering into a vehicle during the night to commit a felony and larceny of a motor vehicle.
