Yarmouth Police/CWN

YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police report that on Thursday at 8:44 AM, Police and Fire Department personnel were dispatched to Skippy’s Pier 1 Marina on Neptune Lane in South Yarmouth for a report of a male party who had fallen into the water and has since been pulled out.

Units arrived on location and found a male party lying down on the marina docks who had fallen into the water.

The male party was identified as Jeffery Viamari,  34, of Yarmouthport.

The on-scene investigation indicates that Jeffery was at the Marina checking on the boat Bad Influence when he slipped on the ice and fell into the icy waters of Parkers River.

Mr. Viamari was able to hold on to a rope that was tied to the dock and yell for help. An off duty Lawrence Fire Fighter William Pagan Jr., age 43, who was staying at the nearby River View Resort heard the screams for help and looked out the balcony of his room and observed a subject in the water. Mr. Pagan advised the clerk at the front desk who called 911 to report the incident. Together, both parties ran over to the marina and pulled Mr. Viamari from the water. The clerk was later identified as Nicholas Spignese, age 25, of Yarmouth.

Yarmouth Fire and Rescue Ambulance transported Mr. Viamari to Cape Cod Hospital. Mr. Viamari was conscious and alert during the entire event.

Members of the Yarmouth Division of Natural Resources also responded to the scene.

The Yarmouth Police Department highly commends everyone involved in this rescue in such frigid conditions—especially Lawrence Firefighter Pagan Jr. and Desk Clerk Spignese. Their actions are exemplary and saved a life.
