Updated: Two seriously injured in Wellfleet crash

WELLFLEET – Wellfleet Police report that on Thursday at approximately 7:51 PM, they received several calls reporting a motor vehicle accident on Route 6 in the area of Lecount Hollow Road.  Upon the arrival of the police and fire, first responders discovered two vehicles had collided at that location. 

Vehicle 1, a 1998 Jeep Wrangler was being operated by Timothy Mercer, 21, of West Springfield, MA. Vehicle 2, a 1996 Grand Cherokee was being operated by Bradley Glines, 58, of Eastham. Both operators were alone in their vehicles.

Both operators were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with serious injuries.

Eastbound traffic on Route 6 was detoured through the South Wellfleet General Store parking lot, away from the accident scene towards Ocean View Drive.  Westbound traffic on Route 6 was detoured into the Eastbound lane of Route 6 around the accident scene.  The accident scene was cleared at approximately 9:36 PM and traffic on Route 6 was returned to normal flow.

The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.

Wellfleet PD and FD was assisted at the scene by Eastham PD and Barnstable Sheriff Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).
