HYANNIS – Shortly after 11 a.m. Friday two workers were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with serious injuries after a floor collapsed at the site of a closed car dealership under renovation at the intersection of Stevens Street and North Street.

The men were in a mobile aerial work platform when the first floor collapsed from the weight of the rig. The main part of the unit fell into the basement but the basket remained above the collapse (bottom photo above). There was also a gasoline leak from the unit.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Barnstable building and health departments were called to the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
