SOUTH DENNIS – A vehicle fire extended to a house in Dennis Sunday evening. The fire broke out at 14 Hidden Shores Lane about 9:30 PM. Mutual aid from Harwich and Yarmouth also responded to the scene. No injuries were reported. Firefighters were able to knock down the flames in the car and it appeared the house was only damaged on the exterior. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Dennis Fire tells Cape Wide News that they responded to a reported structure at 09:31 PM at 14 Hidden Shores Lane. Upon arrival firefighters found a 2002 Ford Explorer fully involved with extension into the rear of the house. The 1849 home, owned by Edward Baker and has an assessed value of $696,600 was occupied at the time of the fire. Firefighters performed a search and located the owners pet dog and safely removed it from the home. The fire was quickly extinguished with the assistance of Yarmouth and Harwich fire departments. The owner stated he has been doing extensive restorations to the property. An investigation found oily rags located between the car and the home. The fire does not appear to be suspicious at this time.
