Vessel collides with jetty off Yarmouth


YARMOUTH
– Early Monday morning at approxmiately 3:50 AM, Yarmouth Division of Natural Resources officers along with Yarmouth FD responded to the area of Parkers River jetty for a reported boat sinking.

Upon arrival officers located a 24′ vessel sunk. Yarmouth FD on scene as well recovered two persons from the vessel. Those persons were brought to shore to be evaluated by EMS personnel. All persons declined treatment.

Further investigation into the incident by Yarmouth DNR revealed that the vessel had struck the jetty near the entrance to Parkers River causing severe damage to the hull and ultimately resulting in the vessel sinking.

Currently salvage operations are being conducted to retrieve the vessel.

The case will be forwarded to Mass Environmental Police as they are the primary investigative agency for motor vessel accidents in the state.
