VIDEO: Two people rescued after being stranded at breach in Long Point in Provincetown

PROVINCETOWN
– Provincetown Firefighters responded to an unusual rescue early Wednesday afternoon in gusty winds and occasional showers. Two people walking on Long Point became stranded by a breach where the tide cuts off the tip of Cape. Vessels were not able to get close to the beach due to large surf. Deputy Fire Chief James Roderick was able to get close to the scene in a high water rescue vehicle. Once the tide had receded some, two firefighters donned survivor suits and reached the two who were escorted to the vehicle and driven to Herring Cove. EMTs were waiting to evaluate them for possible hypothermia but they declined medical treatment.
