Wareham man facing charges after allegedly hitting garage, leaving the scene

WAREHAMFrom Wareham Police: On Sunday at 6:45 a.m., Wareham Police responded to 252 Sandwich Road for a hit and run motor vehicle accident. At the scene officers observed a garage that had sustained significant damage as well as a car inside the garage. It was apparent that the vehicle that had caused this damage fled the area. Within a few minutes of the arrival of officers, Wareham Police received a call about a heavily damaged vehicle in the parking lot of Stone Village Condominiums. Officer Justin Silveira and Sgt. Herb Noble responded to that location and met a male who identified as himself as the operator of the car. Investigation revealed that the accident occurred approximately 1:30 a.m. and the operator left the scene without reporting it. Hector Dejesus, 45, of Wareham is being summoned to court for leaving the scene of a property damage accident and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. There were no injuries in this incident.

Wareham Police report that no physical arrest was made because Mass General Laws do not allow it for those charges.
