Wareham man facing multiple charges after allegedly leading police on chase

WAREHAM – Wareham Police report that on Thursday morning at about 1:35 AM, Sgt. Daniel Henderson was on patrol on Marion Road in the area of the Multi- Service Center, when he observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation by the corner of High Street. Sgt. Henderson turned around, activated his blue lights, however the vehicle would not pull over. The vehicle sped up, committing multiple violations. Sgt. Henderson pursued the speeding vehicle to Swifts Beach Road and when the car turned quickly into 8 Swifts Beach Road, a mobile home park. The car pulled along trailer #3 and a male exited the vehicle, acting erratically. He was ordered to the ground, refused to comply, and the sergeant could not see his hands. As a result of his actions a taser was deployed, with no effect and the man managed to make it into the trailer with the assistance of two males who were inside.

The two males pulled the suspect into the trailer, slammed, and locked the door. Sgt. Henderson attempted to gain entry and the men finally opened the door however the suspect fled out of a back door. Other officers arrived at the scene, and Officer Phinney with K-9 Rolf apprehended the suspect in an adjacent wooded area. The male, Ron E. Goodrich of 8 Swifts Beach Road # 3, was arrested and charged as follows:

  • Fail to Stop for Police

  • Speeding

  • Failure to stay with Marked Lanes

  • Disorderly Conduct

  • Resisting Arrest

  • Operating a Motor Vehicle after License Suspension

  • Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle on a Public Way

In addition further charges will be forthcoming for the males who aided Goodrich in this incident.
