Ryan Hanscomb

WAREHAM – On July 7, at about 4:35 pm, Officers Christopher Corner and Robert Mclain observed Ryan Hanscome, 22, of no certain address in the area of 270 Onset Avenue. The officers were aware of an outstanding warrant for his arrest and as they approached he fled into a wooded area. After a brief foot chase Mr. Hanscome was located and officers attempted to place him into custody. Mr. Hanscome resisted arrest by kicking at the officers, striking Officer Corner, and attempting to head-butt them. A Taser was used to subdue him and he was eventually transported to WPD headquarters where he was processed and held pending arraignment at Wareham District Court. In addition to the warrant Mr.Hanscome is being charged with assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.

At the fireworks event at about 8:10 pm Officer Ryan Turner was on duty directing traffic when he observed Michael Thompson, 28, of Weymouth standing at the corner of South Bolevard and Onset Avenue. Officer Turner was aware that Mr. Thompson was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants and placed him under arrest. Mr. Thompson had five active warrants and was transported to WPD, where he was held for court.

Mark Oliveira

Moments later Mark Oliveira, 45, of Fall River was arrested by Officer Jennifer Braley and charged with disorderly conduct following a disturbance at the corner of Pleasant and Onset Avenue.

Ashleigh Fowler

At about 8:35 pm, at the corner of Onset and Union Avenue, two females were involved in a heated argument that was dispersed by officers. Within a few seconds one of the females aggressively approached the other female again loudly challenging her to a fight. Officers again tried to verbally move them along, however when it appeared an assault was imminent, the female was placed under arrest. She thrashed about, resisting arrest and was finally handcuffed after a brief struggle. While she was being arrested many people tried to interfere with the arrest causing several officers to move in and disperse the crowd. Ashleigh Fowler, 26, of West Wareham, was arrested by Officer Aaron Pacheco and Acting Police Chief John Walcek, charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.

During the evening two other males were placed under arrest for domestic violence, however Commonwealth laws forbid any disclosure of the particulars of the incident.

Robert Akins

At about 9:15, officers were requested to Over Jordan Road for a disturbance involving a male in the roadway. As officers Charles Pillsbury and Joseph Cardoza approached, they observed hundreds of people walking away from the water after the fireworks display had ended. They located Robert Akins, 52, of East Wareham, yelling, swearing, and waving his arms around wildly. He continued this tirade even after officers asked to calm down in front of 30 people including small children. Mr. Akins was placed under arrest charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. Another person at that location was also placed into protective custody.
