Wareham Police charge two with aggravated rape after alleged hotel attack

WAREHAM – Wareham Police are charging two people with rape in connection with an alleged attack in Plymouth earlier this month.

The investigation was initiated when the female victim was found unresponsive in a vehicle parked in
Morton Park in Plymouth on the morning of Monday, January 8th.

She was transported to a Boston area hospital, where she recovered and reported being sexually assaulted while drugged at the Rosewood Motel in Wareham by a couple she met online.

According to the victim, she met the couple at the Plymouth park and was driven to Wareham, where the alleged attack took place in the motel room.

Police said it included drinking and drug use that affected her control of the situation and led to the sexual assault committed by the couple.

In an unconscious state, the female victim was transported back to Plymouth and placed into her vehicle during the frigid temperatures until she was discovered by Plymouth police in an unresponsive state.

Thirty-nine-year old Michael Botelho of Plymouth and 30 year old Stephania Cyr of Hull were both arrested and charged.

Botelho was arrested on January 19 th at a food court in Kingston Collections, while Cyr was arrested in Hull on January 18th .

Both are currently being held in custody after being arraigned at Wareham District Court.

The charges include aggravated rape, drugging a person for sexual intercourse, and selling liquor to a person under 21.
