Wareham Police make crack bust in local motel room

WAREHAM – A Wareham man is facing drug charges after his arrest in a local hotel room last week.

Wareham Police executed a search warrant on Friday in Room 3 of the Village Motel on the Cranberry Highway.

The target of the search warrant was 44 year old Wareham resident David “DJ” Johnson, formerly of 20 Pires Street.

Upon entry into the motel room, detectives encountered Johnson and 4 friends seated at a table, on which was allegedly 8 pieces (“rocks”) of crack cocaine with a street value of $800, a digital scale, 2 glass pipes used for smoking crack cocaine, a folding knife, and multiple corner cut sandwich bags, all of which Mr. Johnson claimed possession and ownership.

Johnson was placed into custody without incident and transported to the Wareham Police Department for booking, then to Wareham District Court for arraignment on the criminal charge of Possession of a Class B Substance (Cocaine) with Intent to Distribute.
