Wareham Police seek public assistance with hit & run pedestrian, armed robbery

WAREHAMFrom Wareham Police: On Monday March 4, at 6:53 p.m. Wareham Police responded to the area Marion Road at Swifts Beach Road for the report of a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian. At the scene Officer Joseph Cardoza discovered that a 48 year old Wareham resident had been struck while using the crosswalk. The operator of the vehicle never stopped and it is believed the suspect vehicle is a red Ford F150 pick-up truck. The victim suffered apparent minor injuries and was transported to Tobey Hospital. The case remains under investigation.

On Monday, March 4, at 9:37 p.m. Wareham Police responded to Pepin’s Liquors on Cranberry Highway in West Wareham for an armed robbery. The clerk reported that a male entered the store brandishing a firearm and a bag with a drawstring demanding to have it filled with money. The description given to officers was a black male with brown eyes, 5’9” tall, heavy set, wearing black sneakers and black gloves, with a large blue puffy winter coat. The suspect was also wearing a blue handkerchief over part of his face. After further investigation it was determined that another person who was standing by the edge of the parking lot during the robbery left with the suspect on foot on Cranberry Highway in the Weaver Street area.

Officers set up a perimeter and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office had a K-9 unit on the scene immediately. Despite an exhaustive search of the area no suspects were located. If anyone has information on this robbery they are urged to contact the Wareham Police Department.
