Wareham Police weekend arrest roundup

WAREHAMFrom Wareham Police: Officers of the Wareham Police Department have arrested multiple individuals over the last weekend.

Saturday, August 10:

Colton Brown

1:40 a.m. – Colton Brown, 21, of Leominster, was arrested by Officer Calib Larue after a motor vehicle stop on Cranberry Highway. He is charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of open container, marked lanes violation, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace. After he was placed in custody he began to kick the back windows on the cruiser and yelled for a person walking by to open the cruiser door. During the booking process he remained uncooperative. Sergeant Herb Noble assisted in the arrest.

Kathleen Frates

7:14 p.m. – Kathleen Frates, 32, of Lakeville, was arrested by Officer Ryan Gomes because of an active warrant on Cranberry Highway.

Samuel Kinney III

10:23 p.m.- Samuel Kinney III, 45, of Rochester, was arrested on High Street near Center Street for operating under the influence, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, and threats to commit a crime. He was arrested by Officer Lorenzo Grosso. During the booking process Mr. Kinney, came out of his seat requesting officers remove his handcuffs so that he could beat Sergeant Steve Soqui. The officers had to physically restrain him; however he continued to verbally threaten Sgt. Soqui.

Sunday, August 11:

William Guenette

12:40 a.m. – William Guenette, 50, of Onset, was arrested by Officer Nate Aronson and Sergeant Herb Noble on Locust Street for operating under the influence of alcohol, 3rd offense, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Sergeant Noble was in the area for a report of a suspicious auto and stopped the car in question. During a brief investigation Mr. Guenette was placed under arrest after the officers observed signs of impairment.

Joshua Russell

3:12 a.m. – Joshua Russell, 33, of Onset, was arrested by Officers Calib Larue and Steve Harrison on Main Street at Stoney Run for disorderly conduct. Mr. Russell was the passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by the officers and he became belligerent during the incident.

Jason Carvalho

4:00 p.m. – Jason Carvalho, 42, of Taunton, was arrested at Water Wizz after he was told to leave the property for causing a disturbance. He refused to leave and was placed under arrest by Officer Charles Pillsbury and Special Officer Ryan Clark for disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and trespassing.

Thomas Welch

6:21 p.m. – Thomas Welch, 49, of Onset, was arrested by Officer Nate Aronson and Department of Natural Resources Officer Joshua Kimball on East Boulevard. Officer Kimball observed Mr. Welch operating a scooter on a restricted area of the Onset Pier and directed him to stop. Mr. Welch refused but finally pulled over on East Boulevard, where he was arrested. He is charged with operating under the influence, 3rd offense, failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating with a suspended driver’s license, trespassing with a motor vehicle, and operating after suspension for OUI, while operating under the influence.

Michael D. Winer

7:22 p.m. – Michael D. Winer, 30, of Wareham, was arrested by Officers Lorenzo Grosso and Calib Larue for three counts of assault with a deadly weapon. It was reported that he was in the area of Cherry Street threatening people with a knife and yelling racial slurs at them. When officers arrived, Winer went into a trailer on his property saying he would not come out, and that he also had a dog with him. Officer Nate Aronson arrived as back-up, and the officers ordered the man out. He finally exited the trailer and was placed under arrest. The incident remains under investigation by detectives and more charges are expected. A knife was recovered from the scene.

In addition to these arrests, officers also placed an additional 10 people in custody this weekend for incidents that are shielded from public disclosure.
