WAREHAM – A Washington D.C. man is facing OUI charges following a two-car crash early Friday in Wareham.

It was just after midnight on October 13 when Wareham Police responded to Rte. 28 in the area of Tobey Road for the report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident, one of which reportedly left the scene.

Upon arrival at the scene, a heavily-damaged vehicle occupied by two Plymouth residents was discovered, but no injuries were reported.

The occupants said they were traveling south on Rte. 28, when a vehicle traveling north suddenly veered into their lane, causing the collision.

That car left the scene and continued northbound on the Cranberry Highway.

During a search of the area, Officer Robert Mclain located a heavily damaged vehicle just north of the collision site, just as Officer Ryan Turner located 43-year-old John Arkridge IV staggering in a parking lot approximately 500’ away from his extensively damaged vehicle.

Arkridge was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
