With Christmas approaching, Dennis Police warn of holiday scams

DENNIS – Dennis Police are warning the public about several holiday scams making the rounds.

Some of the latest ones include calling as an Amazon representative, then utilizing passwords and credit card numbers for criminal purposes.

The Eversource scam is virtually constant, as is the creativity of these scammers. Police say the general rule is that if someone calls asking for any information, do not give it.

Also, keep an eye out for packages being left at your front door. Dennis Police said they  have had reports of deliveries being stolen. Consider using a smartphone app from the delivery services to track packages.

On some of the apps, you can even specify where the driver can leave a package — consider an out-of-sight location. And don’t hesitate to call if you see anything or anyone suspicious!
