YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police report that on Thursday at 11:15 p.m., units were dispatched to 51 Nobby Lane in West Yarmouth to investigate a noise complaint, which was reported to dispatch by a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous.
Yarmouth Police say the house at 51 Nobby Lane is a nuisance for them and the neighborhood. The elderly homeowner was placed in a nursing home sometime in early 2015. Since then her son, Burton Morris, has had numerous homeless friends with substance abuse problems stay there.
The property’s condition has deteriorated so much that the Yarmouth Board of Health has declared it uninhabitable and there is a plan to remove all occupants from the house on June 27. Burton Morris has lost control of the residence and is no longer residing there. The usual occupants are various homeless people.
The Yarmouth Police have responded to 51 Nobby Lane 46 times in the 12 months preceding the date of this report, including 27 times in 2016.
Police could hear yelling 150 feet from the residence and attempted to get them to quiet down. One of the loud voices being that of Dawn Squires who the Yarmouth Police Department has had at least 50 interactions with over the past several years.
She was repeatedly told that she needed to stop yelling, and to go back inside the residence and quiet down. Dawn yelled back that she could do what she wanted. She was given one more warning.
She continued to be disorderly and was determined to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest. She was charged with disorderly conduct.
Squires was transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and will be arraigned in the Barnstable District Court on Friday.
