Woman arrested for entering Wellfleet residence

WELLFLEET – Wellfleet Police report that 0n Sunday at approximately 2:40 p.m. the Department received a call of a suspicious person in the area of Main Street. Upon the police officers arrival at the residence, they learned the resident was outside the house reading the paper. The resident heard noises and saw someone within the residence. They confronted the woman who inquired of the whereabouts of a shopping mall in the area. The property owner advised the women that it was private property and that she should leave. The property owner described the person as a dark skinned female with dreadlocks. Officers checked the area and where unable to locate the female.

On Monday, a follow-up investigation to the above was conducted. This case was very similar to a set of house breaks dating back to the early part of August when Sharon Butler, 45, of Boston, MA was arrested for those offenses including the larceny of some $40,000 in jewelry (see related story here). Officers were also able to determine that Sharon Butler had returned to the area and confirmed that a couple of arrest warrants were outstanding for her. Officers located Sharon Butler and were able to place her under arrest for the outstanding warrants. Sharon Butler was transported to Wellfleet PD were she was booked and transported to Orleans Court, awaiting arraignment.

This remains an active case and further charges could be filed. People are advised to secure their residence and call the local police upon discovering suspicious activity.
