Yarmouth and State Police investigate double overdose with one fatality

YARMOUTH
– Yarmouth Police report that on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 7 PM, the Yarmouth Police Department Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting an overdose in one of the rooms at Nikki’s Apartment House located at 812 Route 28 in South Yarmouth.

Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officer Justin Haire arrived first and found a man unconscious in one of the rooms.  Someone in the apartment house—later determined to be the man’s brother—had found the 38-year-old man and given him a dose of Narcan with negative results.

Patrol Officer Haire provided a dose of Narcan and began Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.

Additional Yarmouth Police Officers and Yarmouth Firefighters arrived on scene.

While the rescue was occurring, Yarmouth Police found another man inside the apartment overdosing and treated him with Narcan.

Both men were taken by Yarmouth Fire Department Ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis where the first man was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead.

The second man has recovered.

The Yarmouth and Massachusetts State Police are investigating the apparent heroin/fentanyl overdose death and this incident.
