YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police Department Proactive Anti-Crime Unit Officer Nicholas Ambrosini and Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officer Andrew Coville observed a known drug user in the parking lot of a West Yarmouth motel on Friday, November 18 around 7 p.m. acting  in a suspicious manner.

When officers encountered the man, he immediately ran off entering Route 28 traffic and running in the middle of the westbound traffic lane. The suspect continued to run and ignored the Police Officers demands to stop.

The suspect suddenly tripped and fell to the ground. Officer Ambrosini encountered him and the suspect allegedly became threatening and assaultive. Ambrosini activated and deployed his Taser and the suspect became compliant and was taken in to custody.

unicorn-1Officer Conor Burnham arrived and during a pat frisk, the suspect was found to have a golf ball sized package containing chunks of cocaine and heroin in his pocket.

While being transported the suspect was crying uncontrollably and stated he was sorry. He told officers he was only going to sell drugs for a year until he could save up some money and that he just got out of jail after serving 2 years for selling drugs.

During the booking process at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters a total of $941.00 was found in his wallet and seized as evidence.

Further examination of the golf ball sized item contained in the clear sandwich baggie located in the suspect’s pants pocket found 7.7 grams of heroin and 8.8 grams of cocaine.

The suspect who is currently on probation for drug distribution convictions, is scheduled for arraignment today, Monday, November 21, 2016 in the Barnstable District Court
