Yarmouth Police arrest woman for false threat to school

Koda Robinson-Matthew

YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police report that late Sunday night, they received information that a subject had made a threat last week through social media to commit violence at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.

Members of the Yarmouth Police Department Detective Division—working closely with Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School administration and School Resource Police Officers—obtained a warrant for the arrest of the former D-Y student on Monday morning.

At approximately 2:00 PM members of our Proactive Anti-Crime Unit tracked the subject down at her residence in Sandwich.

With the assistance of the Sandwich Police Department, Koda Robinson-Matthew, 21, of Forestdale was placed under arrest and subsequently transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters.

Robinson-Matthew was charged with making a false threat. She was processed and interviewed at Yarmouth Police Headquarters.  Koda indicated the intent to alarm people and see how many students would stay out of school but had no intentions of carrying out the violence.

She was released from Yarmouth Police Department custody by the Bail Commissioner on personal recognizance after paying the $40 bail fee and was due for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court Tuesday morning.

This type of threat is considered a felony in Massachusetts with the potential punishment of incarceration in state prison for not less than 3 years nor more than 20 years or imprisonment in the house of correction for not less than 6 months nor more than 21/2 years, or by fine of not less than $1,000 nor more than $50,000, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

The Yarmouth Police Department highly commends the person who came forward to report this incident and the professionalism and teamwork of everyone involved in the investigation.
