Yarmouth Police and Fire Departments continue boardwalk fire investigation

YARMOUTH
– According to the Yarmouth Police Department, on Saturday July 4, 2015, at approximately 10:02 p.m., Yarmouth Police Department K9 Patrol Officer Michael Kramer was dispatched to Gray’s Beach in Yarmouth Port to assist the Yarmouth Fire Department with a small camp-type minor fire that had been lit on the boardwalk.

At approximately 10:58 p.m. on the same night, Yarmouth Police Dispatch advised patrol officers that the fire department was again responding for a fire on the boardwalk.  Officer Connor Burnham and Mary Gibney responded. Upon arrival they found a portion of the right side of the boardwalk and the entire patio with benches fully engulfed in flames.

The Yarmouth Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire.  The boardwalk and patio were made of a wood composite material and the estimated cost of the damage is approximately $15,000.

Officers Burnham and Gibney conducted an area check in an attempt to locate anyone in the area that may have seen or been a part of the incident. The area check came up empty.  Yarmouth Police Department Detective Nuss arrived shortly afterwards and is currently conducting an investigation.
