YARMOUTH – The Yarmouth Police Department hosted a free gun lock giveaway event Thursday, handing out nearly 100 of the devices.
Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’ Keefe and Yarmouth Police Chief Frank Frederickson provided opening remarks at the event.
The locks were provided the group Grandmothers Against Gun Violence and the “Lock It Up” project.
The grassroots group encourages gun owner safety.
There were 95 free gun locks given out to citizens between 3 pm and 6 pm.
The event was held in conjunction with:
- Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe
- The Powderhorn Outfitters
- Cape Gun Works Hyannis
- National Shooting Sport Foundation -Project Childsafe
