Yarmouth Police investigating attempted unarmed robbery in CCH parking lot


YARMOUTH
From Yarmouth Police: On Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 9:28 PM, Yarmouth Police Officers were dispatched to Cape Cod Hospital for a report of an attempted robbery in a hospital parking lot.

The victim reported that he was walking to his car when a male party encountered him and asked for his money.

Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officer Alexander Xiarhos conducted a preliminary investigation which indicated the incident occurred as a male employee of the hospital was walking toward his vehicle located in the main parking lot on the east side of Bayview Street.

As he walked towards his vehicle in a well-light area, a male party stepped out from behind a vehicle and said to him “Drop your money!”

The suspect was holding a dark object, unsure if a weapon or cellphone, in his left hand above his head while standing approximately 30 feet away.

The employee ran back towards the hospital.

The suspect ran in the other direction.

Suspect Description

• White male
• 25-35 years old
• Dark brown hair medium to long length
• Approximately 5’10
• Approximately 180lbs
• Dark colored jacket with a dark shirt underneath

Both Yarmouth and Barnstable Police Department K9 Units arrived on scene within minutes and no track was detected.

Yarmouth Police Detective Mike Wells arrived on scene and reviewed the security camera footage from a variety of angles. The images were very clear and showed the victim but did not show a suspect.

The Yarmouth Police Department is working closely with Cape Cod Hospital Officials and both police departments have increased police presence in the area.
