YARMOUTH – From Yarmouth Police: “On Monday, August 20, 2018 at 1:40AM, a Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officer was traveling westbound on Route 6A in Yarmouthport when his 2017 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor left the wet road way and collided with a utility pole in the area of 751 Route 6A.

The Officer was wearing his seatbelt and the cruiser air bag deployed.

The Officer was treated for minor injuries by members of the Yarmouth Fire Department and transported to Cape Cod Hospital where he was treated and released.

The Officer is expected to fully recover and return to work sometime in the next few days.

The Officer was on route to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters to cover the station for the Patrol Sergeant which would allow the shift supervisor to go to the scene of the arrest of Patrick T. Leary who had been arrested for drunken driving and resisting arrest. See arrest of Patrick T. Leary for further details.

The cruiser is insured and will be repaired or replaced as soon as possible.

The YPD thanks the media and members of the public who have expressed their concerns and support.”
