Yarmouth Police report neighborhood crime watch works

coughlindylanjamesYARMOUTH – According to the Yarmouth Police Department, on each of the past two Fridays, Yarmouth citizens observed suspicious activity occurring in broad daylight that led to the arrests of three subjects involved in daytime felony break-ins.

The first incident occurred on Willow Street in South Yarmouth on Friday, July 17, at at 9:27 a.m., which resulted in the arrest of 22-year-old Dylan James Coughlin of Harwich (pictured) for breaking into a home in that section of Bass River.

The second incident occurred on Raymond Avenue in South Yarmouth last Friday, July 24, at 12:39 p.m. This time two 15-year-old Yarmouth juvenile males were arrested for breaking into a home and stealing a bicycle.

All of the arrests involved alert neighbors watching out for each other and immediately calling YPD when something was suspicious.

Yarmouth Deputy Police Chief Steven Xiarhos says, “Yarmouth Police are very proud of our ongoing partnership with the Yarmouth Police Community Advisory Team and the 120 organized Neighborhood Crime Watch Areas set up all over town, which in unprecedented in Massachusetts.”
