YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police revived their 87th heroin overdose victim of the year Thursday morning.
A 31-year-old male was found overdosed and revived with Narcan by Yarmouth Police Officers and Yarmouth Firefighters and transported to Cape Cod Hospital,
Police said that almost all heroin on the streets of Cape Cod now has the powerful and deadly drug fentanyl mixed in with it.
The YPD has responded to 104 overdoses so far in 2017 — 87 of them believed to be due to heroin/fentanyl.
Authorities remind the public that if you or a friend needs help stopping and overcoming opioid related addiction, 800-327-5050 for the Substance Abuse Information and Education Helpline.
The YPD hosts weekly ‘Learn to Cope’ opioid support group meetings for families dealing with addiction and recovery every Tuesday night at 7PM. Narcan training and supplies are available at to all no cost at the end of the meeting.
