Yarmouth Police seeking civilian health clinician

YARMOUTH – The Yarmouth Police Department is accepting resumes for the position of Part-Time Behavioral Health Clinician.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with Yarmouth Police Personnel to help identify individuals suffering with mental health disorders and/or substance abuse disorders and conducting appropriate intervention.

Intervention will include on-site evaluations as well as accessing available comprehensive support services with the goal of diverting persons in mental health distress away from criminal justice involvement and direct them toward appropriate care and services.

Additionally the Behavioral Health Clinician, in conjunction with the Yarmouth Police Outreach Team, will be responsible for coordinating bi-monthly outreach days, conducting follow-ups, attending community meetings, and organizing as-needed Case Conference Meetings. Data gathering and tracking key indicators will be an important function of this position.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and possess a Master’s or higher degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, or human service.

Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) is required along with a minimum of five years full-time or equivalent part-time experience working with emotionally disturbed persons.

Applicants must desire to work in a non-clinical outreach-type setting as well as participating in ride-alongs/outreach with members of the YPD Mental Health Outreach Team.

Applicants will have the ability to identify, counsel, and manage individuals of all ages suffering mental health disorders, diagnosed memory impairment, substance abuse disorders, and/or dual diagnoses issues.

All interested candidates must be able to pass an extensive background investigation.
