YARMOUTH – The Yarmouth Police Department reports that on Thursday at 5:50 p.m. Yarmouth Police Department Proactive Anti-Crime (PAC) Unit Officer Sean Geary stopped a 2016 Chevrolet Impala bearing Florida plates for motor vehicle violations on Bayview Street in West Yarmouth. While Officer Geary was speaking to the driver, fellow PAC Unit Officer Nicholas Ambrosini and Yarmouth Police Department K9 Patrol Officer Marc Thibeault arrived on scene to assist. Officers subsequently determined that the vehicle was a rental from Florida that had not been returned.

During an inventory of the vehicle’s contents, officers located a clear glassine sandwich baggy containing a single round white pill that was found to be oxycodone.

The driver, Ethan J. Jones, 26, of Hyde Park, MA, (photo at top left) was placed under arrest for Possession of a Class B substance (Oxycodone). Prior to being placed in the rear of the cruiser, the suspect informed Officer Geary that he had marijuana on him hidden in his buttocks area between his underwear and long johns. Nine individual corner cut bags inside one large zip lock bag were located.

During the booking process at Yarmouth Police Department headquarters an additional glassine bag was observed protruding from the individual’s buttocks. The bag was a glassine corner-cut sandwich baggy with seven smaller corner-cut baggies inside it. Inside each bag was a quantity of brown powder found to be heroin. During a further check, another bag of heroin fell out of his left sock. In total the heroin weighed out to be 6.2 grams.

The suspect had two active cell phones. During the encounter, both phones rang and received text messages constantly. The suspect admitted to selling drugs and the $72.00 in his possession was seized as proceeds of drug sales. Furthermore, gift cards, money order receipts, cash cards, and another person’s debit card were also seized as proceeds of drug sales and for further investigation into a possible fraud scheme being conducted by Jones.

Jones was scheduled for arraignment Friday in the Barnstable District Court on the following charges: possession to distribute class A heroin, possession to distribute class D marijuana, possession class B oxycodone, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.
