PACU Officer VanNess activated the blue lights on his cruiser and conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle as it turned onto Town Brook Road.

The Nissan eventually ended up stopping in the new construction area of the former Mill Hill Club.

The operator stated that he and his passenger are both construction workers on the job site and he initially identified himself as Orlando Rojas and stated that he did not have a license to operate a motor vehicle. When asked for something with his name on it, he handed Officer VanNess produced a Texas Driver’s License with the operator’s picture, in the name of Orlando Rojas but with a different date of birth and the Texas License number did not come back to anyone suggesting it was a fictitious ID.

Yarmouth K9 Patrol Officer Sean Gannon and fellow PACU Unit Officer Nick Ambrosini arrived as backup.  The operator was confronted with the false information and admitted he was not truthful and stated that his true name was Victor Soto.

Based upon this, he was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters. During the booking process, the suspect insisted his name was Victor Soto and provided Yarmouth Police department Patrol Sergeant Tom Hennessey with all of Soto’s biographical information during the booking process.

Fingerprints were taken and the investigation of the operator’s true identity continued. After several hours, Police Officers were able to establish that the suspect’s true name was Gerardo Gonzalez-Carrasco. Gonzalez-Carrasco admitted this as his true identity and provided information that matched our findings. Gonzalez-Carrasco was found to have been deported back to Mexico in 2001 and 2014.

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), was notified and is assisting in the investigation.

Gonzalez-Carrasco was charged with failing to identify self to police officer, defective equipment, operating without a license, identity fraud, arrestee furnishing false name, and possession/use of false/stolen RMV documents. He was placed on No Bail Status due to high risk by the Bail Commissioner and held at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters all weekend and was then transported to the Barnstable District Court Monday morning for arraignment.
