YPD celebrates Massachusetts Community Policing Week 2018

YARMOUTH – From Yarmouth Police: As we recognize Massachusetts Community Policing Week here in the town of Yarmouth, we are proud to remind everyone that the Yarmouth Police Department is the two time recipient of the prestigious New England Association of Chiefs of Police Community Policing Award and take this opportunity to list all of the special things we do each year in support of Community Policing in the town of Yarmouth.

Our Neighborhood Crime Watch program continues to be a powerful force with over 120 blocks and several hundred members.

Our Volunteers in Policing Unit provides thousands of hours of volunteer service to the YPD and the citizens that we serve.

The Yarmouth Police Foundation continues to grow. The Foundation recently fully funded the purchase of a special camera system that is mounted on the back of our police K9 which allows our Police Officers to safely see inside a room or area that the K9 is actively searching in.

Currently, the Yarmouth Police Foundation is raising funds for Operation ‘Stronger Shield’ which will help build the Sergeant Sean M. Gannon Memorial Training Complex here on the grounds of Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters that will allow Police Officers and K9’s the ability to safely train for generations to come.

We are very proud of the work of our men and women do as we continue to transform Yarmouth in to the safest community in the region
