YPD PACU arrests two for cocaine possession

YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police report that on Wednesday at approximately 2:30 PM, Yarmouth Police Department Proactive Anti-Crime Unit (PACU) Officer Sean Geary observed two men in a Toyota Yaris with NH places acting suspicious.

PACU Officer Geary recognized the operator of the vehicle as convicted drug dealer Demetrius T. Bennett, 26, of Boston,who is a known gang member from Boston.

Yarmouth Police Proactive Anti-Crime Unit Officer Nick Ambrosini and Yarmouth Police Department Detective Christopher VanNess joined Officer Geary.

PACU Officers stopped the vehicle on Route 6 in Yarmouth.

A small bag of crack cocaine was observed in the vehicle between the seat and the door.

Yarmouth Police located another small bag of crack cocaine inside the vehicle.

Bennett, and Sean Coppin, 20, of Hyannis were placed under arrest on charges of possession of a Class B substance (cocaine).

The vehicle was towed back to YPD Headquarters facility by Mid Cape Collision.

Both suspects were booked at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters. During booking, over $2,000 in cash was located on Bennett’s person.

Both suspects were released by the Bail Commissioner on Personal recognizance after paying the $40 Bail Commissioner fee.

Both were due in the Barnstable District Court for arraignment Thursday.
