YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police have released new details in the pedestrian accident first reported by Cape Wide News Friday evening: On Friday, November 30, 2018 at 7:12 PM, Yarmouth Police Officers and Firefighters responded to a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle at 931 Route 28 in South Yarmouth.
First responders arrived and provided emergency medical services to a 67-year-old man who lives nearby on Long Pond Drive in South Yarmouth and transported him to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis suffering from injuries that were not life-threatening.
Preliminary investigation indicates the man was walking across Route 28 from south to north–not in a crosswalk–and was struck by a westbound 2016 Jeep Patriot operated by a 25-year-old woman from Old Main Street in South Yarmouth.
Yarmouth Police Crash Reconstruction Officers and members of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit are conducting a follow-up investigation.
