UPDATED: OUI driver wanted after leaving court captured

YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police report that on Thursday at 10:00 AM, Patrol Officers, Detectives, and Proactive-Anti Crime Unit Officers-led by Patrol Officer Christopher Eccleston- captured 5 time drunk driver Joshua Brooks hiding in a basement at a home in Yarmouthport.

Brooks was taken in to custody and transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters for processing and has been transported to the Barnstable District Court. 

Brooks was arrested for drunken driving on Saturday afternoon after nearly crashing in to a fully marked Police Cruiser operated by Patrol Officer Brian Niezgoda.

He had been bailed by the Bail Commissioner after paying $540.00.

Brooks appeared in the Barnstable District Court on Monday but left without finishing his court appearance and has been on the run.

The Yarmouth Police Department Command Staff commends the public for their ongoing support and all of the Police Officers involved in today’s arrest.

Brooks has a long criminal record with five previous OUI charges.

He was arrested again by YPD on Saturday and released by the Bail Commissioner after paying the $500 bail and the $40 Bail fee.

Brooks arrived at court on Monday, but did not complete the process and left.
