Conor Baron
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
This quote embodies 10 year-old Conor Baron, who is a shining example of taking a tragedy and turning it into a labor of love in memory of a beloved cousin. Conor lost his cousin, a hero as well, who was killed serving our country in Afghanistan.
Conor channeled his grief to do something for others and started a Christmas card drive for soldiers deployed overseas.
Last year Conor sent almost 800 cards to the troops and enlisted local businesses to benefit his card drive and his other effort called Rocky’s Warriors, which collects items for service dogs. Conor also supports the troops by volunteering with Cape Cod Cares, where he helps package supplies and care packages for those deployed overseas.
Conor is clearly wise beyond his years and is a true example of leadership, courage and caring in his community.
