Gaynor Foster and Melissa Clayton

Melissa-Clayton

Teamwork is the best way to get the job done and Gaynor and Melissa are the epitome of a great team.  As Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator of the Yarmouth Dennis Community Emergency Response Team (Y-D CERT), they manage a team of 35 volunteers who in the last 2 years have given about 3,700 hours of community service.

The team responded during Winter Storm Nemo in 2013 where they served over 400 hours during and after the storm for 300 clients needing assistance and this year during the January Storm Juno the team served another 400 hours again  They have been commended for their professionalism and commitment by FEMA, as well as local responders.

We don’t know where they find the time, but they also educate teenagers to become CERT members, which is of huge benefit to the community.

Gaynor also serves as an on-call firefighter in Yarmouth and Melissa is a part of the Barnstable County Incident Response Team.

All of the work they do is voluntary and they are truly the unsung heroes in the community, assisting residents in their greatest time of need 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
