6th Annual Memorial Motorcycle Ride for the Fallen Traffic Advisory

On Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM the 6th Annual Memorial Motorcycle Ride for the Fallen will kick off in honor of the 14 fallen Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines with ties to Cape Cod who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the ongoing War on Terror. The police-escorted ride will cover a scenic 37-mile route along the Cape Cod Canal and Route 6A through the upper and mid-Cape areas and end at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School in South Yarmouth.

The event, entitled “Big Nick’s Ride for the Fallen,” is named in memory of United States Marine Corporal Nicholas G. Xiarhos of Yarmouth and is organized in honor of all 14 of Cape Cod’s fallen warriors as well as all the Gold, Silver, and Blue Star families, Veterans, and active duty service men and women who continue to serve our country.

Gates open at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility in Bourne at 8:00 am. For more information about the ride please visit www.ngxride.com

Community members are strongly encouraged to observe the ride from safe viewing points and wave American or military flags as it travels primarily along Route 6A through Bourne—Sandwich—Barnstable—and Yarmouth. Citizens may also to watch the ride as it enters the grounds of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School at 210 Station Avenue in South Yarmouth.

2015 Ride for the Fallen Ride Route

Leave the parking area of the Barnstable County Correctional Facility at 11AM to the Otis rotary

Right at the Otis rotary and north on Route 28

Right at the Bourne rotary onto Sandwich Road along the Cape Cod Canal

Travel under the Sagamore Bridge onto Route 6A east

Stay on Route 6A through Sandwich and Barnstable into Yarmouthport and turn right on to Setucket Road

Turn right on to North Dennis Road and ride over the Great Western Road Nicholas G. Xiarhos Veterans Memorial Overpass Overpass

Turn right on to North Main Street and then right on to Regional Avenue

Turn right on to Station Avenue and enter the front driveway area of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School
