CORD – Cape Organization for Rights of the Disabled

CORD – Cape Organization for Rights of the Disabled – has been working aggressively for more than three decades to advance the independence, productivity, and integration of people with disabilities into mainstream society. The non-profit Center for Independent Living serves Cape Cod & the Islands by providing independent living services to people with disabilities. CORD’s mission is to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and to promote a barrier-free environment for all.

As part of their mission CORD works to eradicate the hunger and poor nutrition that is known to disproportionately affect households with members with disabilities. They host food drives, operate a mobile food pantry, and seek to raise awareness within the community of the need to better serve those dealing with disabilities.

CORD and Cape Cod Broadcasting Media

For more than a year, we at Cape Cod Broadcasting Media has worked with CORD to advocate for independence, productivity, and quality nutrition to those in our community living with disabilities.

We have worked to promote food collection events organized by CORD, and encourage our partners, readers, and listeners to participate actively in contributing to CORD’s mission.

Through promotions on our radio stations and on CapeCod.com we continue to advance the cause both through the broadcast of information related to resources available to the disabled, and by spreading awareness within the community about what can be done to help.
