Bob Dylan turns 75 this year. What is he doing to celebrate? He is packing up his gear and his band and hitting the road with Mavis Staples for a tour.
In fact, the duo will take the stage at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion on July 14. In the event that you can’t wait until July, but you still want to celebrate Bob Dylan’s Birthday and his music, make plans to get Tangled Up in Blue with some area musicians.
The Cotuit Center for the Arts will transform into the Third Fret Coffee house for “Bob Dylan’s Birthday Bash” this Saturday evening. You can reserve a VIP table and a bottle of wine while you enjoy Bob Dylan stories and songs performed by three great area talents: Matt Borrello, Art Tebbits and Danielle Miraglia.
Bob Dylan’s Birthday Bash has become an annual performance for Matt Borrello, who is currently enjoying the release of “Dollar & A Kiss.” His album features a collection of original songs clearly rooted in Dylan’s style of storytelling.
Art Tebbits is New Bedford’s musician of all eras from the ’20s through contemporary comedy. He will wear his folk-hat for this weekend’s event. Here is a clip of Matt and Art performing Bob Dylan’s “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome”:
The lady of the trio is Danielle Miraglia. Danielle is a multi-award winning performer from the Boston area with a series of original CD’s including her most recent “Glory Junky” which blends the classic rock vibe of The Rolling Stones and Janis Joplin with Danielle’s signature lyrical ability to explore human nature at its best and worst.
I asked Danielle what Dylan song she is looking forward to sharing the most. Her answer was a link to this video:
