Happy New Year!

A new year brings a new start, a clean slate, a year of boundless opportunities. What will you experience for the first time? What will be your favorite new memory? Will you push yourself to try something new? I love the idea of a fresh start – 365 days to make new memories.

While 2018 is so young and fresh, I challenge you to not only make the most it, but to inject a little kindness into your day. Sometimes a small act of kindness can make all the difference. Hold the door for a stranger, make an effort to share a SMILE as you go about your day, or maybe compliment someone about a great new look.

Yesterday I was at the grocery store, and amid the zoo scene that was all around me, it took only a second to notice the elderly couple in the parking lot trying to maneuver the shopping cart through the ice while manning their canes.  Lending a helping hand to them didn’t cost anything and took only a moment out of my day, but the couple were so grateful and must have thanked me five times in the two minutes that it took to safely navigate them to the store.

I recently posted a photo of myself (which I HATE doing) to the Q facebook page last Thursday as we were in the thoroughs of the Bomb Cyclone/Nor’easter. Just a ‘fueling up with coffee’ picture of to get through a wintery weather shift on the radio – and it quickly turned launched into a hair discussion. Thanks for the listener love!! It’s good to know you guys are out there listening and appreciate what we do, and it honestly made my day. The post was supposed to be about me being there for you, but turned into you lifting me up and getting me through a crazy weather shift.

Small acts of kindness might not seem like much, but to the person who’s had a terrible day and you offer them encouragement, or telling a friend they look “super hot” when she’s working hard in the gym to get in shape, but hasn’t seen any results yet – it might just mean the world!

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2018! Do something for the first time this year. Make new, fantastic memories and don’t forget to share kindness. It’s free and might just change someone’s life.
