I Finally Did Something I’ve Always Wanted To Do

I finally did something I have always wanted to do! I took a CPR course.

Here is why.

Many years ago, when I first got into radio, I was hosting a club gig with probably 300+ people in a nightclub.

All of a sudden, I heard a lot of commotion and to my surprise, a man fell to the floor. It seemed like he was having a heart attack. I called out on the mic for anyone that knew CPR to come to his aid. It was minutes before someone came forward and at that point the man was worse off.

The patron tried CPR but I believe it was too late. The paramedics finally showed up and the man had passed away. Think about it, 300 people in the club and only 1 person knew CPR!

From that moment on, I said to myself “you need to take a CPR course as you never know when this could happen again.”

Well, it happened again.  My husband passed from a heart attack. He wasn’t in front of me when it happened. What if he was?

I STILL wouldn’t have known what to do.

So about a month ago I started thinking about this again and I decided that I just have to do it. I went onto the Red Cross website and looked for a class in the area and signed up.

I learned CPR.

I learned what to do if someone was choking, I learned about first aid, concussions, how to resuscitate an infant and more.  It was so worth it.

I hope I never really have to use this training, but if I do, I’ll be ready!
