It’s International Women’s Day and I’m an Exhausted Mom.

Real Talk:

My 15 month old is on day 2 of a nasty stomach bug. I’m talking both ends

I am sitting on my sofa with a cold cup of tea and a load of laundry that needs folding staring at my laptop.

I need to write a blog to go live today tonight at midnight. I want it to be about International Women’s Day. I want it to be meaningful and interesting and inspiring. It’s such a big of a topic, I don’t have a lot of time, and I’m to exhausted to be clever.

This morning I went straight from the radio studio to the pediatricians office. My husband took the morning off work and in between the nurse and doctor seeing the baby the parents switched off: mom coming back from doing a radio show, dad heading off to look after a steam ship.

I am also scrambling to find childcare because of family situations and the person I hired is moving at the end of the month.

Oh and I’m working on Feel Good Mornings and trying to write a blog about International Women’s Day.

This is the most real talk “International Women’s Day” blog I could write about.

I read something once that said when you are getting up multiple times in the middle of the night, it helps to think that there are women all over the world doing the same.

I know I am not the only woman to balance work, child care and sick kids.

I’m so lucky that when I first met with the owner of the radio station about becoming the host of Feel Good Mornings he said “I want this to work for you and your family. I know important it is to be a parent.”

I’m lucky to live in a time and in a country where we have the option to be pulled in this many directions rather than only given one choice.

I’m so happy that employers recognize this. My husband’s boss didn’t hesitate when he asked to flex his time so I could do the show rather than take the morning.

The baby’s waking up now. I’m going to attempt to find an animated movie that keeps him mesmerized.

Wish me luck.  I’ll do the same for you!
