Just The Wakeup I Needed

Coming off the heels of International Women’s Day, I’m inspiredby all the fanfare. Tosee so manymentions onsocial media acknowledging ordinary and extraordinarywomen who have made a difference, is heartwarming.I loved seeing the pictures ofgenerationsof strong women (and future women). I’m sure you knowone, are one or are raising one!

It was a couple years ago that my girls were really into The Kindness Rocks Project. I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS ORGANIZATION! You are probably already familiar with them, but if you aren’t this istheirobjective:

GOAL #1:INSPIREOTHERS THROUGH RANDOMLY PLACED ROCKS ALONG THE WAY…

GOAL #2: RECRUIT EVERY PERSON WHO STUMBLES UPON IT TO JOIN IN THE PURSUIT OFINSPIRINGOTHERS THROUGH RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS

Onemessage at just the right moment can change someone’s entire. day. outlook.Life.

Find out all about the Kindness Rocks Projecthere.

We spent an entire summer looking for and collecting the perfect rocks tojoin in the movement. You know I love a good arts& craftsproject, so it also entailedevery imaginable colorofpaintand finding the perfect encouraging, motivating and challenging sayingsto put on our rocks. I’ll neverforget how much fun we had, painting rocks. Wonder if the inventor of The Pet Rock felt the same way?Wetalked aboutwhere weshould strategically place each rock andabout howourrocks might make someone’s day better.

There was one rock I just couldn’t part with, becauseitspokedirectly to me. It had one simple word:INSPIRE. Imade the rock with every intentionof finding it a goodhomebutrealizedthatI could draw a lotfrom it. Ikeepit by my bed and see it every night before Iclose my eyesand obsess overthe day(what MOM doesn’t do this?)andevery morning as I’m starting a new day. It reminds me that I am blessed with two intelligent, funny, caring, beautiful and at times challenginggirls.Every day is an opportunity; it’s my job to make sure they know the sky is the limit, they canbeandachieveanything theyset their minds to.

International Women’s Day was just the wake up I needed. It was a great reminder to inspire andlift upall the amazing women around me.Looks like this summer we’ll be hunting rocks to spread love, acceptance and words of encouragement around the Cape.

She believed she could, so she did!
