National Drive-In Movie Day is Today

June 6 is National Drive-In Movie Day. The last time I went to a drive-in movie I was 4 and they were showing “Bedknobs and Broomsticks.” I’m so looking forward to introducing my son to the drive-in this year in Wellfleet.

We are luckier than you know to have a Drive-In Movie Theatre on Cape Cod. In 1980, there were over 2,400 drive-ins and now there are around 340! The Wellfleet Drive-In opened on July 3, 1957.

There’s something really fun about going to a drive-in. You get to stay in the privacy of your car instead of worrying about someone kicking your seat, eating too loud or coughing. Yet you’re enjoying new release movies on a huge screen.

This season it will be open until September 8 and possibly longer. It’s been listed on Frommer’s 500 Places to Visit Before They Disappear. Take their advice and put a visit this summer on your must-do list.

Keep an eye on the website for dates and of course movie listings.
