New Movie Friday!

Pierce Brosnan’s Spy Thriller “The November Man” is Up Against the Horror Flick “As Above So Below”

1.  The November Man  (R)   (Opened Wednesday)

Pierce Brosnan plays a former spy who’s lured out of retirement for a mission to protect Olga Kurylenko from a CIA hit squad.  That makes him the target of Australian actor Luke Bracey, a friend Brosnan trained before he left the agency. Luke is the guy who got Keanu’s role of Johnny Utah in the upcoming “Point Break” remake.  And Olga is a former Bond girl.  But not one of Brosnan’s Bond girls . . . she was in the Daniel Craig movie “Quantum of Solace”.

2.  As Above So Below  (R)

A found-footage horror movie about a team of explorers who enter the catacombs under Paris on a quest for the Philosopher’s Stone . . . but instead find the Gates of Hell, where each of them is forced to relive the sins of their past.

Perdita Weeks from “The Tudors” is the archeology student leading the expedition. Ben Feldman from “Drop Dead Diva” is her partner, and Edwin Hodge from “The Purge” is their cameraman.  You may also know Ben Feldman as Michael Ginsberg on “Mad Men”.

3.  And now, some limited releases you may or may not care about:
